Plasma hangs on intel machine

Hello everyone, almost always on all versions of plasma, on all cores I get about the same errors to a greater extent on Wayland, but also on X11 but less often. Just hanging out of the blue, how can this be fixed? As I see it, this is due to the Intel video driver. In general, after updating to plasma 6.1.4, it is in the Wayland session that the system is very fast, It’s nice to use, but these freezes pull back to the X11, although it happens there too, but rarely.

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.10.7-3-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz
Memory: 11.1 ГиБ of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 5500
Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
Product Name: TP300LDB
System Version: 1.0

Reverting to kernel 6.6.x (LTS), or even kernel 6.1 (LTS), will likely solve the immediate issue. Update to 6.10.x (or whatever may be current) at a future date to see if the situation has changed.

Cheers.

I went back to 6.1 and 6.6 did not help, but yesterday the 6.10 update came, and so far I have not caught a single frieze. And such a swing is basically constant, the update will come, it will get better, then another one will come and it will freeze).

Such are the thrills of using the Unstable branch.

I suppose you can arguably mark your own post as the solution.

Cheers.

Mmm, I would still like to understand how to see in more detail why this is so, if you tell me how to look into the nucleus or somewhere else. Today I was actively used all day and everything was fine, but now there is a freeze again. I have had such a story for a long time on all versions of plasma and nuclei. In X11 this is practically not the case, but sometimes it happens. Perhaps something will change someday)

Well, after some searching it seems this affects quite a few people with similar hardware configurations; a bug somewhere, though it’s doesn’t appear to be Manjaro-specific.

From some of these examples, the i915 seems to be in play. Unfortunately I don’t have the hardware to help troubleshoot.

Some in-depth system information might be beneficial:

inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width

Good luck.
