yes, if you want to install or test another linxu distribution, it is best to put this parameter in the grub menu before loading the live usb… here is the link how to do it … if you dont do it with every linux distro usb, you will not be able to boot some distros, for example, if you have this pci error you cant boot into gnome live usb…and yes after you install you have to add this parameter into to grub file, which is located in the same place: /etc/default/grub … however the command: sudo update-grub may be different on other distros …
also clear your logs with these commands:
sudo journalctl --rotate
sudo journalctl -m --vacuum-time=1s
