You’ll probably also end up with a whole load of *.pacnew files. You will need to merge them in with your existing configuration files. But this is something you can do at a later stage — as long as you don’t forget, because some of that stuff is important, like changes to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Did this fix and re-running. I had to remove two conflicting files. Hope that was right…
Finished the upgrade, and then rebooted the Manjaro filesystem.
The PC immediately shut off. 
Booted the Ubuntu filesystem.
It booted to a grub> prompt just like before.
It looks like nothing has changed?
Why does booting Manjaro make the PC turn itself off.
I can load Windows, or off the USB fine. But booting Manjaro is no longer possible.
my situation of misery 
I used instructions off another guy in this forum who had the exact same error, and it looks like the same problem with the PC shutting off when trying to load Manjaro. But there was no solution posted. Didn’t work for me either

your system is broken because of the exist in filesystem and you also dont have installed any kernel, thats why you cant boot:
you have these errors during update, so rerun the update again and use it with overwrite (from chroot of course)…
pacman-mirrors -f 5 && pacman -Syyu --overwrite '*'
there should be no longer any errors, but if there are post them here…
then install kernel:
pacman -S linux515
if there are no errors exit chroot and reboot, and that should do it…

should I go ahead and install the kernel?
it looks like you have installed the 6.1 kernel… but yes install also the 5.15:
pacman -S linux515
and then again reinstall grub, just in case:
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=manjaro --recheck
then run this:
mkinitcpio -P && update-grub
since you tried again installing grub for bios/legacy…
if there are no errors from the grub install command, exit chroot and reboot
I know what error is going to come up reinstalling grub, but I’ll try it again

well that’s new.
Now it says:
grub-install: error: failed to get canonical path of ‘/boot/efi’.
there’s a boot/grub directory with a grubenv file in it
probably this is the reason, it got messed up when you were installing this 
post output from:
ls /boot/efi/EFI
and also:
ldconfig
/boot/efi/EFI does not exist
ldconfig has no output, it just goes to the next line
there is only a grub directory under /boot, no efi
are you chrooted?
