Hi,
I’m encountering a minor issue when i try to update applications using pamac-manager on unstable. As soon as I type in the wrong password, I don’t seem to get notified and the status hangs at “preparing…”. The window also can’t be closed without forcing it.
I had the same issue a while back, also while updating. Am I doing something wrong? I tried to replicate it, but everything is up-to-date now…
I am thinking the pkexec re-prompt has accidently been hidden behind the application window.
The authorisation prompt is modal - but not in the sense that it will stay on top of everything.
It should be fairly simple to reproduce
- Install a new app
- When prompted enter the wrong password
- Then click the application window
Result - the re-prompt is now hidden and the app becomes unresponsive.
In your desktops panel - you will find an app with a key icon - click it to bring the authorisation window to the front.
This can happen for any number of reasons - I have occasionally experienced this myself - a laptop with a hypersensitive touchpad - moving the mouse aside thereby activating a mouse button… just examples from my experience.
I feel so dumb right now. That’s exactly the behavior I ran into. Can’t believe i didn’t see the lock icon. Thanks!
I’m on KDE. I made a Window rule for the Pkexec password prompt, forcing it to stay on top regardless of where I clicked the Mouse pointer.
