Hi, I just installed manjaro on my Dell xps 13, I noticed my password does not get me into root, then when I lock the screen, I can no longer log in to the computer.
When you installed, did you create a normal user AND a root user with a different password?
It may be that you are using the wrong password (this is probably obvious…and not helpful).
Coming from the Ubuntu world I was a little confused by having a separate root password.

Have you had the same keymap (keyboard locale/layout) set during installation as now?
If you typed it with the wrong keymap on installation you have set the wrong password.
