Pamac-cli upgrade works but pamac-manager cannot find updates

Starting about 6-8 months ago, I have no longer been able to receive updates through my preferred method of using pamac-manager user interface. Since then I have had to run pamac upgrade instead.

If I run pamac upgrade and then press N to refuse installation, then any updates that I found via pamac upgrade are visible in the pamac-manager (e.g. Add/Remove Software) user interface.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi @waynesbrain and welcome to the Manjaro Community!

Whilst not the subject of this thread, I would advise addressing this:

… as having no swap can cause some issues, even with plenty of RAM.

For example, if RAM gets full (lots of tabs open, doing video editing, etc.), the system will have nowhere to “offload” stuff when needed.

Also, swap (of sufficient size, a bit more than your RAM) is needed if you wish to hibernate.

Hi @BG405 - Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

Thank you @nikgnomic - I will try that next time I check for updates.

Today I launched Add/Remove Software and I got updates from AUR.

After I installed the updates, I ran pamac upgrade as well was pamac upgrade --force-refresh to see if any updates were missed by pamac-manager and there were no additional updates found.

So, it looks like it’s working again. In a few weeks I’ll see if it’s still working and report back.

Thanks so much for all of your help!
