Package update stops with permission issue

Hi group -

I’m on System76 Galago Pro (15) running kernel 6.12.48-1 and am having trouble with some package updates.

“sudo pamac update” returns the following package update options:

To build (4):
appimagelauncher  3.0.0_beta_3-1  (3.0.0_beta_1-1)  AUR
electron38-bin    38.5.0-1        (38.3.0-1)        AUR
nomacs            1:3.21.1-1      (1:3.21.0-2)      AUR
pdf-xchange       10.7.5.403-1    (10.7.3.401-1)    AUR

I accept the updates and it runs for a bit and stops with these messages:

==> Validating source_x86_64 files with sha256sums…
electron38-chromedriver-38.5.0-x86_64.zip … Passed
electron38-38.5.0-x86_64.zip … Passed
==> Removing existing $srcdir/ directory…
==> Extracting sources…
==> Starting prepare()…
chmod: changing permissions of ‘/var/cache/private/pamac/electron38-bin/src/electron38/chrome-sandbox’: Operation not permitted
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
Aborting…
Finished with result: exit-code
Main processes terminated with: code=exited, status=4/NOPERMISSION

Since I initiated the package update with “sudo” I’m confused about the permission error. Tips about next steps welcome.

thanks

Don’t use sudo with pamac.
The program will ask for admin permission when it needs it.
