im trying to install unity and it is complaining about open ssl 1.1 however i cant install ssl1.1 cause i already have it. im curious if there is a work around or a fix
Unity is not availabe in the Manjaro repositories, it’s coming from the AUR IIRC.
openssl-1.1 package is not available in all branches yet, see:

You’ll have to wait for it to reach stable branch or switch branches to at least testing:
