I am on latest Manjaro Gnome. When I open a terminal the sound level changes to the maximum volume. How do I stop this from happening?

I’d really suggest you follow both links provided.
Regards.
I suggest open Gnome audio controls and check audio levels before and after opening terminal
If there is no change in pipewire
audio levels after opening terminal,
check ALSA audio levels in alsamixer
or install gnome-alsamixer
Assuming people run updates, EVERYONE is on the latest Manjaro Gnome - though some might be on Stable, some Unstable, and others Testing…
Is this a fresh install today? The most usual method to try this in a vanilla state would be:
Create a new USER, log in and try again.
How do you open a terminal?
It is extremely important to be extremely accurate in your use of language,
On Plasma, I launch my terminals via keyboard shortcuts, via launchers, or by direct commands. I would test this out by opening another terminal (Kitty) to launch the gnome terminal and see if the same issue occurs and/or if there are any outputs…
That’s simple - avoid triggering whatever it is that caused this to happen.
