Open-File/Folder dialog not working in multiple applications

Hello, since some weeks (I think) I have the issue that in several programs any file or directory chooser stopped to work.
I first noticed this for Steam - I am no longer able to add third-party games to my library. Also I cannot add new drives to the storage section for my games, as there is no option to add it without a file-open dialog. (opening the file-content of an existing folder from within steam works and opens the file manager thunar for me)
The same also happens for the “Code - OSS” editor and chromium (and I think I had the issue in other applications as well but I don’t remember which ones exactly).
Within firefox, thunderbird, keepassxc, audacious, gimp, … a file-dialog appears when I try to open something.
The first time I hoped that an update would fix the issue but now after that time I think the issue will stay until I actively do something… (I also updated the kernel in the meantime but that also didn’t help)

What could be the issue?
My only “hint” is a message that appears in the command line when I click in chromium on the “save page” option:
[20063:20063:0315/103001.028873:ERROR:request.cc(169)] Request ended (non-user cancelled).

Hi @retr0virus,

Do you have xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-desktop-portal-gnome installed? Check with:

pamac search --installed portal

If not, install them with:

pamac install xdg-desktop-portal-gnome

Then test again. I have no idea if this is your problem, but it might well be. So I hope it helps!

Ah, I’m sorry.
Yes, I also found and tried this possible solution but it didn’t work for me. I forgot to mention that.
It’s part of the gnome-session package and can also not be uninstalled. (The same for the -gtk one and the one without a suffix.)

In that case

:man_shrugging:

Sorry

:sob:
