Old install info found on the web isnt working -can't update

Hello,
I’ve stumbled across this distribution in trying to load linux on an ARM AMlogic s912 TV box. I attempted to follow the steps at a github site. This appears to be an outdated tutorial as any of the modern/recent images do not create the file structure with a uEnv.ini file.
That website has an “alternate” download source for an older 20.## version of Manjaro. If I use this it installs almost perfectly with no hassles at all. The issue post-install is that because this is a rolling release its just too old of a version to update–failed dependencies and conflicting packages.

My Question is simply, what is the protocols for installing a recent/supported version that I can install & get updates?
