Nvidia Prime drivers 50% don't boot

With Manjaro on laptop that has i7 7700hq and GTX 1050 the graphics drivers will freeze the boot process about 50% of the time. I am using kernal 5.8.16-2 and graphics driver video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-455xx-prime. During boot with “debug” option turned on in grub I will always get to a point where it outputs

kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: Enabling HDA controller

After this message is displayed the system will freeze and become unresponsive. Within 2 - 4 seconds the login screen will either show up or the the system will remain frozen indefinitely. Either occurance has 50/50 chance even on a fresh install.

go back to 450 nvidia-series

I was on that version a few weeks back with the same issue. Btw how would I go about reverting to something like 440xx?
