I recently saw that some NVIDIA gpu drivers became open source and wanted to try it out.
source: GitHub - NVIDIA/open-gpu-kernel-modules: NVIDIA Linux open GPU kernel module source
Sadly it fails at the very first step.
log:
make modules -jnproc
make: *** No rule to make target ‘modules’. Stop.
Any ideas? Maybe the dev team is soon going to adapt the drivers?

It will probably come with the drivers 515 so watch for when it comes to Arch (edit: already on Testing Arch Linux - Package Search ) or Unstable branch , then wait more

Looks like it won’t be adopted into mainline kernel development, since the userspace (binary blob) and firmware remain proprietary.
