Wayland Gnome Desktop notification popup banner is across whole screen although text is wrapped to a narrow column on left hand side - unreadable
I have a screenshot but cannot see how to post it!?
It seems like it could be a theming issue.
Could you create a new User and login to that, then tell us if you experience the same issue?
In the meantime, please provide system information (see below) and follow the links (in particular the link marked with ) to learn how to use the forum effectively.
Regards.
Welcome to the Manjaro community
As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

Enclosed is a screenshot of the problem - the notification bar covers the full width of the screen. https://paste.pics/ae2409eb632808aa7f8ca6f6758b6240
I have created a new user and the problem still exists with that user.

The notifications rendered as expected on a recent Gnome VM. I’m applying the 2025-02-18 sync/update now to see if it’s related.
Update;
I cannot reproduce the issue with notify-send
. I suspect this may indeed be a rendering problem intruduced by a custom theme; of course, this is only a guess. You could try reverting to all standard theme components to see if the issue persists.
A brief search has revealed nothing specific; naturally, this doesn’t mean an issue (or a bug) might not be discovered in the meantime. However, until it is reproducible by multiple Users, it’s much too early to scream “Bug!”
Let’s leave your topic open until we have more information.
Regards.
I have now identified that notifications works as expected with Default" theme but not with any of the “Matcha-…” themes? (I was using Matcha-dark-sea)
Unfortunately, Vince has not been updating Matcha much and has not adapted to recent GNOME changes. However, it may still work well with other Desktop Environments and Window Managers.
I understand the Matcha themes are getting a bit long-in-the-tooth – perhaps you might search the forum for suggestions for a replacement; either that, or stick with the default, I suppose.
