Not booting when using nvidia nonfree

Hello,
When using nonfree nvidia driver I am stuck with a white cursor on a blackscreen on startup, this also happens when booting with nonfree driver with the latest manjaro xfce iso. (in both cases, tty doesn’t work)
I tried to reinstall, it works as expected until I install nonfree drivers and reboot.
I am using kernel 5.15.25-1
I have the laptop asus rog strix scar g533 with a 3070ti
I reinstalled manjaro and just did mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300
and the same issue happened after reboot

I got the following output by chrooting from intallation media:

It seems only the free driver nouveau was loaded and has not been blacklisted (or maybe just a result of the Live Session):

Looks like at your UEFI Settings Nvidia is set to main output (because of card0) ? Change it back to Intel iGPU as main. If you want that only Nvidia should available and you disabled Intel on the UEFI, then remove video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime and install video-nvidia with mhwd.

Intel is loaded correctly in modesetting mode and nvidia has been loaded aswell.

And it creates a Display… hm… that is a strange issue… So at least the intel driver seems to work as expected, but if nothing is displayed, then it is somehow blocked by the UEFI (I believe).

I would suggest (additionally) to add the modules to the initramfs. Chroot again on a live session and…

Replace MODULES=() with:

I have no option to disable intel graphics from uefi so I’ve done it through armoury crate on windows (turned on discrete gpu instead of MSHybrid using the mux switch )
I uninstalled the hybrid driver and installed nvidia-linux driver but I have the same issue

Also tried to edit thr MODULES line but it didnt work

Maybe try a newer kernel. The i915 module for intel is baked into the kernel. Your chipset is pretty new and maybe there are still bugs. :man_shrugging:
