No Wi-Fi device found

My Wi-Fi device cannot be found since one of the last system updates. I tried the following:

nmcli dev wifi rescan:

Error: No Wi-Fi device found.

nmcli con show:

Kabelgebundene Verbindung     <some-uuid> ethernet  enp59s0u2u4
lo                            <some-uuid> loopback  lo

eduroam                       <wifi-uuid> wifi      --

nmcli connection up <wifi-uuid>:

Error: Connection activation failed: No suitable device found for this connection (device lo not available because profile is not compatible with device (connection type is not "loopback")).

My system:
Linux Kernel: 5.15.112-1-MANJARO
KDE-Plasma: 5.27.4

Are you sure you’re copying the correct UUID?

Is your device plugged in? Had you ever have to install custom drivers?

Yes, i copied the uuid of eduroam, which is my wifi network. I tried it again after your post and it is the same error message.

I have a notebook, so there is no external wifi device to be plugged in. Wifi is built-in. I never installed any custom drivers for my wifi.

hardly any info that can tell anything;

need atleast info from;

  1. for your setup i would first recommend running one of the latest kernels (6.1<).

  2. if you have a multiboot with windows make sure that you dont hibernate windows, and have fast-boot off in windows.

  3. iwd - ArchWiki

Try kernel 6.2 or 6.3 and see how it goes. The driver should be included in the kernel. I had a hard time with this (new) computer with an Intel AX200. I tried modprobe and other fixes, nothing worked. I grabbbed the driver direct from Intel (the 46 driver) and placed in /lib/firmware and it magically worked the next morning and ever since although it now loads a more recent driver. Strange.

It now loads the “74” driver for some reason even though “77” is present in the folder.

What nmcli device status and rfkill list show?

I installed kernel 6.1 und now it works! Thank you all for your help!! :slight_smile:
