House of Da Vinci is a Steam Game and runs perfectly using Proton Experimental on my system (se my profile for sysinfo)
The fact that it is a steam game and there is no issues launching and running the game.

I run steam on manjaro 6.1 kernel.
I DID very recently run into problems though, similar error output as this.
Ended up being me having the wrong mount settings for where I was running the games from (files could not be executable, but steam reported nothing of this), while the proton packages was installed on another drive where files COULD be executable.
So I could run games with proton, but native would not launch even though both games were installed on the same drive.
Where do you keep your installations?
So if games just “don’t launch” try creating a script on the drive you have your games installed at like:
cd /path/to/games
nano test.sh
and in that file
echo 'this file is executable'
ctrl+x and then y to save the file
chmod +x test.sh
./test.sh
if it works properly it will print “this file is executable”

It is the first game I have ever installed on Manjaro and it is likely to be the only one. I usually don’t play games as I hate violence and occultism - that leaves out most games on Steam.
House of Da Vince is an option because it is a peaceful mindgame - yet only supported for Windows and macOS.
It was as simple as clicking Gear icon for the game → Settings → Compatibility → Proton experimental.

I have the packages steam (1.0.0.78-2) and steam-native-runtime (1.0.0.74-4) from the repo, and I use mesa-nonfree from https://nonfree.eu - other than that - standard Manjaro Plasma system - using Wayland.
It simply works OOB - no problems - no tweaking - no nothing except a pleasant experience - and a really really nice gameplay.

I’ve been using Steam (Runtime) with zero problems since I first installed Manjaro well over a year ago (February 2022). Have used kernel versions 5.15, 5.16, 5.17, 5.18, 5.19, and currently on 6.1. Originally I was using 5700G integrated graphics, have since added a RX 5500 XT. I’ve played numerous games, both native and via Proton.

Manjaro is the 3rd most popular Linux distro in the most recent Steam Hardware & Software Survey. So there are plenty of other people using it too without problems.
What all the above is saying is that the problem is something specific to your setup. I suspect something to do with the mount point where your games are installed, as bedna suggested above.

Easy way to test that theory is to install a game at the default library location and see if it works (Steam → Settings → Downloads → Steam Library Folders).

Thank you guys. Now that I’ve backed up my data. I ran bedna’s test. It executed as to be expected. I tried this on Manjaro and Linux Mint. Both times it executed.

Thank you for your response. I respectfully disagree with you. I’ve tested my setup with:
- Pop_OS v22.04 (it works no problem)
- Linux Mint v21.1 (it works no problem)
- Manjaro (fails)
- EndeavorOS (fails)
- Arch Linux (fails)
There is nothing super special about how I have my install setup since it works on other non-Arch based Linux installs. All of the Linux installs have a “/my_data” within their respective root folders and them mount maps to “LinuxGaming”.
I’ve followed up with folks on multiple forums included various discussion threads on Steam. Others seem to confirm that switching to a non-Arch based distro. removes the problem. This means the problem is not limited to me or my setup. More specifically it might have something to do with the MESA driver which is newer on Arch based distros. A change in the kernel that is booted into will cause a reaction by the Steam client that does a short update to itself in response to the kernel change since its last run. Some where in this action/reaction lies where the breakage is. However, this only breaks on the Arch based distros. Upgrading to a 6.x kernel on Linux MInt and Pop_OS does not break Steam.
I still have to wipe partitions and install the latest Manjaro KDE ISO. Hopefully the newer kernel and Steam will behave.
FYI, the entire point of moving Steam gaming data to a path like “/my_data/local/LinuxGaming/…” is so that I don’t balloon the home folder with gigabytes of game data and save files. Underneath “LinuxGaming” I have a “lm_steam” for Linux Mint, a “pop_steam” for Pop_OS, and a “jaro_steam” for manjaro. This keeps each of the steam installs separate from each other. By moving the Steam storage path I can keep the home folder lean and uncluttered, which makes doing backups of the home folder so much faster. Backing up game data and saves is handled separately.

If ones does not have the appropriate permissions (execute specifically), Steam will not allow the user to change the default storage location. One can only change the default location if the permissions are correct. This was discovered and verified through trial and error. I still ran your test because its worth eliminating a possibility if it gets one closer to resolution.

So the conclusion is there is a bug somewhere that we can’t find?
As a gamer it hurts my soul not to know if “this guy solved it and is now gaming again”… xD
That’s what I thought too, and if something was wrong it would say so somewhere. And it is kinda true, if you try to create a new location with an unexecutable drive.
The problem for me was that something changed (without me doing anything) and suddenly the drive was NOT executable, but in the steam settings it still showed the custom installation path and not referencing ANY errors towards that. The behavior was to just not launch the games. 
Agree 100% on that, the only thing I cant seem to move is the Steamworks Common Distributable, that has to stay in the /home steam dir, or can you move that too?
But I still think the saves stays in the home steam dir though, and syncs to steams servers. (~/.local/share/Steam/userdata and SOME unity3d games in ~/.config/unity3d/), It’s a bit of a mess imo.
Have you tried sharing the directories for steam? Ie, use the same “custom” for all os:es? I will, very soon, do that test between my win11 and manjaro.
I actually suspect steam will share the games between distributions saving TONS of space. Have you tried?

And it didn’t break Steam for me on Manjaro either, but I don’t use a separate mount point.
Conclusion: something is different with Arch-based distros + 6.x kernels + Steam with regards to your mount point. Did you try installing a game in the default /home location to confirm that?
