Could someone explain "GetManagedObjects() failed org.freedesktop.Dbus.Error.NoReply" ?

If my headphones work- does that indicate no sound from speakers is a driver issue?

Tonight I reinstalled Manjaro in case I loused up a setting but mostly because after another update, programs would start but then not work (settings, add/remove). The little ball spun and spun and I had to force close. The upgrade tonight- and assume my new reinstall too, included bluetooth for pulse audio. I don't have bluetooth on this computer. So I tried to uninstall pulse-audio service only to find that pulseaudio DEPENDS on pulseaudio-bluetooth!!! which explains why pulse audio didn't get reinstalled with the update. Isn't it backwards to have audio dependent on a bluetooth service????

You should update system again to get Pulseaudio v15.0 and then try this

Thanks- I will do that again. I did a complete reinstall of Manjaro OS & still no sound after updates (2 so far in less than 24 hrs). I replaced the physical speakers…still no sound. I tried this read out command found on the forum and though I’m not sure what pipewire even is, yet I found the output for “Active” very curious! I’m going to follow your command though and see if maybe now it will help. I’ve just about had it - I require sound next week for a student.

My system has no available updates- but I do see pulseaudio version 15.0.1 is installed. I did the command mentioned anyway but still no sound. Just ran systemctl --user status pulseaudio - The output shows an Error.

I have no idea how to repair the possible causes it lists. Is the bus security policy- a bus- the audio bus? My sound card (like many computer these days) is built in to the motherboard. My network connection seems to be working for video visual and text upload to this forum. Since I redid Manjaro I have not bothered to setup the firewall because redoing the system wiped all my files. And, I’ve yet to install any software. I am running Manjaro as it installed yesterday from the network with no extras.

Please post more information about Pulseaudio configuration

and more information about audio hardware in ALSA

sudo alsa-info.sh --upload

System data in OP is not showing hardware ID codes so I cannot narrow the search to find comparative data beyond 117 different models of `Pavilion g7’ listed on linux-hardware.org

Since my last post, since Firefox was displaying in the sound settings I decided to remove FF and install Chromium. Here is the output.

Are you using HDMI or (internal?) AMD FCH Azalia for sound?

Did you change kernel on upgrade?

ref

Device-1: AMD BeaverCreek HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 6500D and 6400G-6600G series]
driver: snd_hda_intel
Device-2: AMD FCH Azalia driver: snd_hda_intel

Did you reboot afterwards?

My HP G7 AMD is still having sound issues. Steps I’ve tried:

  • List item

repartioned & reinstalled Manjaro
installed immediate updates
installed recent upgrades (chromium/ff mostly)
followed notice to upgrade kernel (from recommended LSK to 5.13

I’ve tried suggestions on the forum and also read other Linux flavors complaint about recent no sound, but I am really at a loss. Is there a driver or something from AMD/HP that I need or a command to make it see the soundcard? On boot there is a message about IRQ 13 & 18 that seems peculiar- could the IRQ addy be wrong and is there a way I could fix that myself as in dos or old windows?
I’m posting some information here hoping someone can help.

I have tried clearing out the database / cookies and rebooting several times but not since kernel upgraded today so I will try that again and remove this msg if there is any change within a half hour.

After I wiped my system, with the exception of Chromium I haven’t installed any other software, to try to figure this out without compounding the problem. Chromium does seem to have an issue with a keyring not found message that requests my password. The nag screen pops up 3x and can be escaped out of. I do notice that one of my browsers actually displayed my one saved password rather than putting it in hidden asteric*s, - maybe due to my escaping the keyring password request???
