Hi, it’s my first post here, although I use Manjaro for more than 5 years now. It’s a great distribution!
Yesterday I updated my system via Pamac, and then rebooted it, but didn’t use any application with sound. I just closed the notebook lid at night, and today when I tried to use it no sound could be played, neither via browser, local files, or Gnome sound test (in Settings > Sound). No sound either after reboot or after turn it off for minutes and then booted it. When I open Gnome settings, it displays both internal speakers and sound via HDMI (which is my second monitor) to select, but none of them works. When I connect my (wired) headphones they’re recognized as usual, but no sound plays through them. If I connect my bluetooth speaker, it doesn’t appear in the sound settings, as it would before this problem.
So I looked at Pacman logs, and found that both kernel and firmware packages were updated. Below are the lines of those packages:
[2025-03-19T17:14:19-0300] [ALPM] upgraded linux-firmware-whence (20250210.5bc5868b-1 -> 20250311.b69d4b74-2)
[2025-03-19T17:14:34-0300] [ALPM] upgraded linux-firmware (20250210.5bc5868b-1 -> 20250311.b69d4b74-2)
[2025-03-19T17:14:56-0300] [ALPM] upgraded linux66-rt (6.6.77_rt50-1 -> 6.6.78_rt51-1)
I then opened the Firmware application and updated a device called “UEFI dbx”, with the update named as “Secure Boot dbx”. Rebooted, and yet same situation.
Then I looked at the Kernel section of Manjaro Settings Manager. I was running kernel 6.6 RT, then installed the 6.13 RT version and rebooted using it. Same situation.
In the Pacman log, when generating kernel images, there’re these lines, I don’t know if it’s related because I remember some of them begun to appear months ago without any perceptible problem:
