No Signal to Display on Wake from Sleep/Suspend

I have a three-monitor display which used to behave as expected when waking from sleep. I built a new system (using same monitors and GPU but reinstalling Manjaro fresh), and hibernation disabled via Fabby’s tutorial on these forums; however, the monitors now get no signal when waking from sleep.

To get the monitors to output again I need to either unplug them and reconnect the DisplayPort cable, or reboot the system. The former causes weird issues like items disappearing from my desktop (notes, etc.), and the latter causes the system to disable the two side monitors in settings on restart.

Additionally, when the system wakes, if I ctrl + alt + F2/3/4/5/6 all three monitors will then wake and display the tty terminal; however, pressing ctrl + alt + F1 shows a frozen image of my desktop on just a single monitor, of which I can blindly interact with (image never updates, but clicking items will execute them).

I was on the 5.13 kernel, but I updated to the 5.15. No change in behavior. I’m using NVIDIA 470.86 drivers. Fairly new to linux, so don’t know what log files exist, or are useful for certain things. Just ask and I’ll supply.

I always use

    Option "ConnectToAcpid" "Off"

to the Section "Device" in my /etc/X11/mhwd.d/nvidia.conf - maybe not quite relevant for you.

I do not have issues with DPMS, but maybe you can make use of some custom values as explained here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Display_Power_Management_Signaling

By the way

Might want to look into what sound server you want to use and disable the other one.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I didn’t even realize two sound servers were running. I’ll investigate that more.

Interestingly, during troubleshooting this DPMS issue I saw errors in the xorg log related to ACPID, so I’ll try your options suggestion there, might resolve that for me.

Additionally, I’m happy to report that I narrowed down the culprit of my suspend problem. My power strip has a threshold switch, allowing controlled plugs to completely power down when the main plug drops below a certain draw from the wall. It was set to high, so all the monitors would completely lose power and turn off. Setting the threshold to low causes them to remain connected to wall power when the system is suspended, and instead go into their respective sleep mode. Now, when I return from suspend they wake successfully.
