No longer able to connect to the internet

Hello,

So, I’ve only very recently started to use Linux. For the most part, my internet connection had been fine (with some unusual slowdowns in downloads on Steam not present on Windows). However, recently my internet connection has been dropping entirely and is unable to reconnect consistently, if at all. I’m a little at a loss here, as I’m extremely unfamiliar with Linux so far and I can’t really see anyone with a similar issue. If it helps, I use a DAP-1955 wifi adapter to connect my PC to the internet.

alright, where should I go from here? I managed to snag this and paste it on the forums cause my internet has rather miraculously come back (even though I didn’t do anything and made sure that it wasn’t a network wide problem by testing my phone and other computers in the house), but i’m not sure how long it’ll last

Are you referring to your Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection? I assume Wi-FI as Broadcom often doesn’t like to play nice.

Perhaps try what’s suggested in the Arch wiki about your adapter: No 5GHz for BCM4360 (14e4:43a0) / BCM43602 (14e4:43ba) devices

Kernel: 5.13.15-1

5.13 is EOL (End Of Life) and will no longer receive updates. I suggest installing both 5.10 LTS (Long Term Support) and 5.14 (latest stable) and try both. Since you have a Ryzen 5, I do not suggest anything older. There have been many fixes & improvements from 5.5 onward.
