No login screen just cursor and black screen

Hi,
seems like that I am having problem with gnome/gdm out of nowhere. I cannot remember any update so far.

If I boot my Manjaro, it starts up well, but at the moment the gnome-login should appear, I only got a blackscreen with mouse-cursor. If I wait further, It seems like that part of gnome starts (still only blackscreen with cursor, but the icons for reboot, time, network appear in the upper right corner.

If I go to a console (Strg+Alt+F2) and

systemctl gdm.service stop
systemctl gdm.service start

the gnome-login appears and gnome works.

ATM I have no idea what is causing the problem.

I tried : https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/ml0ruy/solution_to_gnomegdm_black_screen_after_a_major/

but it is not working (was not the solution)

some details on my installation:

Any hints on this?

UPDATE: disabled gdm.service and installed lightdm & greeter and activated it (systemctl enable lightdm).
Lighdm is working… but this is no clean solution…

Thanks!

so with lightdm you have no issues?
and also you are running on the 6.0 kernel, was the issue happening also on other kernels?

hi, yes lightdm is running with no issues so far. I can remember the problem a while a go (with no 6.0 kernel). I also switched to lightdm about 6 month ago, but reverted back to gdm after I saw it is working again.

The weird thing is that gdm worked with the 6.0 kernel for days now, without anything.

I mean if lightdm works, its no problem for me, but I think it is not what gnome would like to have…
