No internet from known WIFI network (previously working)

A known WIFI network no longer has direct internet access, unless I connect to that same network via a hotspot on my phone.

I have tried forgetting the known network and reconnecting. It didn’t work. Connecting to a different SSID on the router also provides no internet. I haven’t changed any settings on the router.

Please help if you can.

I happened over the last few days. Same kernel. I did pacman updates, one of which was manjaro-keyring that caused error during update > more on this was posted by someone else in this forum one or two days ago

try switching to a new kernel, install the 5.17.1-3, reboot and check your wifi

What happens when you connect directly to this WIFI network? Do you receive some error? Do you get IP address from the router?

I can connect directly to it with no problems. However, when trying to access the router I get: 192.168.0.1 refused to connect.

I have switched to 5.17.1-3 now. Same thing happens.

So you do have internet access?
Or not?

Then this might not be the correct address of the router?
Or the web interface, which you likely want to reach, isn’t running?
Some routers have the web interface accessible on for example:
192.168.0.254

I was going to say this:

two ways to gather information on what happens during your attempts to connect:

start a terminal and use this command and watch the output printed to it as you connect:
journalctl -f

same idea - other command:
sudo dmesg -WH

this might yield some clues as to why it fails.

I can connect to the network, but with no internet. 192.168.0.1 is the correct address. I have used it before.

and are you running the 5.17, check with this: uname -a , if yes check these 2 links, and try the solutions, maybe they help…

When I ping google.com:

ping: google.com: Temporary failure in name resolution

However, when I ping google via 8.8.8.8 I get successful responses. Why would this be? Is it some weird DNS thing perhaps?

It seems to me, that for some reason your router (that acts like your DNS server, I suspect) is denying access to your computer. Can you check that?

Edit: Have you tried to restart your router?

I will do a hard reset on the router to see if that works but I didn’t change any settings on it. Will get back to you.
