No boot, and error messages after kernel update

After an update from 513 to 515 I have been locked out of my computer. My computer froze a few hours after installing the new kernel, and after waiting 20 minutes it was still frozen, so I held the power button to shut it down. I have not removed the 513 kernel, and I have tried to boot to it from grub.
Booting to 515 displays: and then freezes. When the power button is pressed a kernel panic happens

t/dev/sdb2: clean, 191748/61030400 files, 93037898/244112696 blocks

Booting to 513 displays the same error message, the error below, and then goes into emergency mode. I cannot access a text command line outside of emergency mode.

I have tried the fixes listed below:
in chroot:
run pacman -Syyu, no updates were needed
update-grub, no effect
uninstall and reinstall 515 kernel. no effect. I wanted to try doing this on the 513 kernel since it gets me further in the boot process, but I cannot reinstall the kernel since it is EOL, so I have not tried. I have not removed 513 either since I cant get it back.
While reinstalling 515/510 I got the following messages

WARNING: Possible missing firmware for module: bfa
WARNING: Possible missing firmware for module: qla2xxx
WARNING: Possible missing firmware for module: qed

installing kernal 510. booting into this gives a black screen.
running startx gives (using free drivers, with GTX1080)

Any recommendations? I’m a newbie, so I’m pretty lost.

The 5.13 kernel is indeed long EOL, and thus unavailable, as well as the driver headers for it. Your issue is similar to many before you that got their drivers removed by updating while keeping that kernel.

You should chroot and:

  • remove the kernel 5.13
  • install the kernel 5.10 LTS, 5.15 LTS and/or newer supported
  • install the drivers
sudo mhwd-kernel -r linux513
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux515
sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300
