No Audio through HP U28 USB-C Monitor's Audio Output

HP U28 monitor’s audio device isn’t appearing in System Settings → Audio.

The monitor is connected via USB-C

The audio device works under Windows 11.

Desktop systems do not have built-in digital array microphones like laptops so do not need sof-firmware drivers at the moment.
Desktop users might want to consider switching to SOF driver in future if sofproject adds support for onboard DSP
But snd_hda_intel driver can support external input/outputs from onboard ALC1220 audio

HP documentation shows monitor has a 3.5mm audio jack for audio output but there is no mention in specifications for any audio device to convert digital video/audio to analog audio

inxi data for Graphics: shows monitor is detected** but Audio: devices does not show any USB device only onboard audio and webcam

I suggest you check USB devices detected by system and audio playback devices detected in ALSA

If responses only show onboard audio and webcam, Linux USB connection probably cannot support multiplexed audio within video

Have you tried using HDMI or DisplayPort connections from system?
Digital audio output via HDMI and Displayport should be supported by onboard audio device
