was notified of an update on 9/2 (possibly 9/1), mostly linux-firmware packages + amd, kwin and wondering why there’s been no announcement in the forum?

I was wondering the same thing. It just came through on my machine. I’ll have to check my studio machine tomorrow.
kwin was updated on stable branch 3 days ago because kwin-x11 has only been released to testing branch at the moment
I cannot find a similar post about linux-firmware but they were released to testing branch at the same time so were likely fast-tracked to all branches
Those are fixes for the 8/30 update. You can follow the progress in the comments on that thread.
