Newbie here. I need help installing an external optical drive

Hello im new to Linux & loving it.

I have a Samsung SE-506 external Blu-ray optical drive.

I ran ‘lsblk’ in the terminal & its recognised as ‘sr1’.

Can somebody please help me with the next steps so I can get it playing disks in VLC.

Just plop a disk in the drive. If the content is not available - check the settings in VLC to look for the drive.

I think my drive is defective, I’ve just tried it on a Windows PC & its still not reading.
