as title descriped, I just install the newest manjaro os which is based on linux kernel 6.9 KDE plasma,
And I got some quetions about this:
*1. After the desktop icons are sorted and sorted, the icons are messed up again after restarting (vertical arrangement becomes horizontal arrangement again)
*2. After grub modified Windows Boot Manager (2), restarted and entered the grub startup interface, and found that the default was still archlinux/manjaro.
*3. After selecting the audio output as my speaker, it will jump to the PC speaker after a while.
*4. The system formats the EFI/BOOT/ROOT partition and retains the previous HOME partition. After reinstalling the latest archlinux/manjaro system, the boot interface is stuck and cannot be entered.
*5. The previous old version could not be successfully upgraded to manjaro with 6.9 kernel. After trying to upgrade, enter the system, and there is no response when clicking on the interface.
You can try upgrading from the manjaro version a few months ago to the latest version to see if it can run normally?
*6. Driver and kernel customization menus are missing? Where can I check it?
Does any one who can help to resolve these issues or give me some advice?
thx!
about *1
log out and switch to tty remove all plasma related settings from .config and .local - remove .cache
–》 Can you provide the .config/.local path? and why must I del all the .config and .cache?
2.about *2
I need a dual boot between windows 11 and manjaro, so I need to modify manjaro grub boot list to default launch system as windows,
so when I change this grub item value to 2, it doesn’t work, still will default get into manjaro:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
GRUB_DEFAULT=2 ——》 windows 11, but it not work!~
about *5 —> I just upgrade as this, but after upgrade, I get in manjrao desktop, but I can’t click any button, no actions, you can have a test.
Here is mine grub config, working with dualboot and remembering the last booted os, see what you are missing (i bet on “menu/saved/savedefault”)

He actually did.
These are so called “hidden” directories, their name starts with a dot
Path is: ~/.config
and ~/.cache
Seeing it may be easier than describing it.
Having a file manager available in TTY also makes the job much easier for someone not familiar with the command line.
install mc - it is a file manager, short for “Midnight Commander” sudo pacman -Syu mc
type mc in TTY or in terminal and off you go
No mouse - just keyboard
Arrow keys and Tab to navigate and Enter are the most important.
~/.cache - because the cache is likely to disturb after syncing to Plasma 6
.local and .config - it is possible to be selective - again it is because old configuration may contain settings and values which contradicts one another or is no longer supported.
Hi guys, all issues above were solved,
and one more question:
how should I launch latte-dock successfully in my new system?
I can only see the config page
Thanks a lot,
One more question, If I want to make konsole text copy and paste like below, how to config it?
1.zsh left click to select copy, right click to paste;
2.short key: ctrl + C :copy; ctrl + v: paste?
Not sure what you mean as a not needed password may point to an encrypted disk or to a network drive.
Windows disks usually use the NTFS filesystem - here is a forum post that talks about it.
