My terminal app is configured with white text on a black background.

After these recent updates, minimizing and reopening terminal results in an all grey window. Clicking on the (now invisible) scrollbar restores the proper colors.

Thunar launches with an all grey window except for a “Desktop” item that is highlighted. The rest of the items are painted when I mouse over them.

Google Earth launches with black map. The map is drawn correctly as soon as I resize the window.

Other apps are showing grey flashes or other weird displays.

Any suggestions?

Change or adapt your theme?
With the standard theme I didn’t notice any such thing.

Thanks. The problem was bad with certain themes and specifically Clearlooks-Phenix. However, it was also related to a legacy Intel graphics driver. Fixing that solved the problem AND improved the graphics performance dramatically.
