Networkmanager takes 10 seconds to establish connection

After resuming from sleep the network takes a long time to get a working connection. Firefox seems to freeze while waiting for this connection. In the system log I see a lot going that is outside my knowledge. The system runs Manjaro Unstable with kde 6.5.1.

inxi information:

IF: eno1 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: f2:d3:88:66:a0:be

Thanks for your help.

This seems normal to me, especially if by “sleep” you mean hibernation; the network needs time to reinitialise and Firefox, in turn, must wait for the network to be available.

However, if you really want to pursue this, you know the procedure by now. Start with providing the expected system information as described (below).

Regards.

Be prepared to provide output from commands when asked. It is equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Simply waiting for others to ask you questions can be counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – instead, please help others to make informed suggestions based on information you provide.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

a) inxi command (long-form):

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

b) inxi command (short-form):

inxi -zv8

Running inxi within a chroot environment :eyes:

  • Add --color=0 to the long-form command, or…
  • Change the short-form command to inxi -zv8c0

Yes - that is quite possible.

Unless you have configured a static IP - the network will have to re-negotiate the IP address with the DHCP server (quite often the router) before any application can use it.

The reason for that should be obvious - perhaps not a big issue in a home network - but with DHCP addresses the lease may have expired during the time off.
