Network Issues after latest update

I finally put on the latest update, and now my network is acting funny. All my other home devices seem to be fine, all on the same wifi, but on Manjaro the network traffic will stop every few minutes. Any tools using network just freeze and wait for about 5-15 seconds, until network comes back.

I don’t see any NetworkManager errors in journalctl. I have tried booting in kernels 6.6 and 6.1.

If I watch network traffic it will drop to 0.0 B/s. I do see some sort of sslerror re-occuring in the logs:

Ugh, I bet it’s just the Citrix client sucking.

Yeah, running citrix workspace in browser mode instead of thick-client, and the errors haven’t happened in a bit. It was happening every few minutes very reliably. I will try updating the client later, I don’t remember if I got it from AUR or somewhere else but I bet it’s pretty old.

UPDATE: nope, still happening. I’ve been tailing logs, only thing I see is this:

Dec 31 10:13:35 nostromo kernel: wlp4s0: AP fc:12:63:89:bf:12 changed bandwidth, new config is 2462.000 MHz, width 1 (2462.000/0 MHz)

Happened a lot just now. I can’t tell if it’s really a problem in my system, or a router/modem issue. Other devices in the house seem ok, but they’re mostly used for watching streaming video, so it may be buffering enough to not be apparent.

Because almost every single stable update provides a kernel update - one can never rule out a driver regression or it may simply be a happy coincidence.

I assume you have restarted your system since the update - am I right in that assumption?

Depending on your environment - is it crowded - wifi-wise?

Yep, restarted system, restarted router too.

No new wifi devices on the network.

I’m trying it on my work cell’s hotspot now, seeing if it makes a difference (hoping it’s an ISP issue, not PC). The constant ‘changed bandwidth’ messages appear to be an atypical thing in the logs, the last I see them is Nov. 5th.

Update: been running on the hotspot for a couple hours with no issues. Then my hotspot crashed and I went back to wifi, no issues for a while.

I’m 50% certain it’s my ISP or router, 50% certain it’s a PC issue, and 50% certain it’s an intermittent issue that will be fun to chase down over the next several weeks, and 50% certain that I don’t know anything at all. Maybe 51% on the middle one.

Update: After a couple of days, the problem seems to have disappeared. I suppose it was the ISP/router.
