Need to firmware update

Hello,

I have bought 8bitdo usb to pair with PS5 controller.
As I read, I need to update firmware to get pair with PS5, but I don’t know how to do that.

I have check on “firmware” application of the Manjaro but it doesn’t appear.

What should i do?

Thanks !

Can you give a download link of the USB controller ?

Here is the manufacturers webside:

Seems 8bitdo only offers a firmware update tool designed for Windows or Mac on their website, with no option to download firmware files directly.
Seems a bit deceitful to me, since they advertise compatibility with Steam Deck

You could try asking if the manufacturer can could provide the files, or see if the tool can work under Wine :person_shrugging:

You can use Windows Hirens PE: https://www.hirensbootcd.org/

Boot this image and update the firmware.

That can never work, because wine cannot access the hardware directly. All code executed via wine runs in userspace only.

This is most likely the only usable option.

Unless, you have a working Windows installation.

sorry, I don’t know how to handle this. What should i do?

Download that ISO and put it on a USB stick with ventoy, then boot up from it, download the Windows tool for flashing the firmware into the live environment, and then use it from there.

ventoy is in the repository. It allows you to simply drag & drop ISOs onto the partition on the stick, and it’ll give you a boot menu with each of the ISOs.
