I did nothing, I was playing a video it worked, then I played another & no sound. It still works in Windows.Board is GIGABYTE B550I AORUS PRO AX (AM4 AMD/B550/Mini-Itx/Dual M.2/SATA 6Gb/s/USB 3.2 Gen 1/WiFi 6/2.5 GbE LAN/PCIe4.0/Realtek ALC1220-Vb/DisplayPort 1.4/2xHDMI 2.0B/RGB Fusion 2.0/DDR4/Gaming Motherboard)
Big help,
I suggest check pipewire services
systemctl --user status pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber
If any of the services need a systemctl --user restart
to get audio working again
You should mark post @Yochanan 's post as the solution
“Many a True Word is spoken in jest”
If not that, and you were watching videos in a web browser, right-click on a tab and check if the menu shows an option to Mute audio or Unmute Audio, and click on Unmute Audio
(Firefox tabs have a mute button that is only active when playing audio, and I have accidentally clicked it a few times)
I’ve had the audio sink switch for some unknown reason on a number of occasions. Has anything changed in System Settings
→ Sound
? (Mine has a habit of switching to Bluetooth output to another paired machine).
Yes, actually rebooting can be a “big help”.
Did you? If so, let us know so we can move on with troubleshooting.
Big help.
Either way, you’ve given us nothing to go on, so at this point no one can help.
This has been a friendly reminder from your friends on the Manjaro forum.
What information do you think would be helpful for this?
I would usually ask for more information, but post #2 seemed to be trying for a Hail Mary solution
OP must have rebooted to check hardware is working in Windows
“I did nothing” cannot be true unless videos were autoplaying. comment suggests that something happened inadvertently to mute audio
Previous posts from OP reported issues with VLC so current issue is possibly with audio from web browser
OP posted inxi
data for system in May
Realtek ALC1220 is unlikely to have any problem to suspect an issue in ALSA
Sorry for that, yes. It’s crazy the first time the sound has ever just stopped working with me changing nothing… I have been using Linux since SuSE 8.1.
