My laptop doesn't properly go to sleep mode when the lid is closed

When I close my laptop’s lid, the display turns off, but the fans are working and the laptop gets hot like I’m using it.

Could you please help me and tell what I must do?

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    [HowTo] Provide System Information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text. (use the option “preformatted text”)

:+1:

The simple solution is to check in System Settings > Power Management and check what happens when lid is closed. Check all conditions, plugged in, on battery and low battery. If they are all set to Sleep then there is some hardware problem which you need to supply per Olli’s post

Thanks for your feedback. I did what you told me.

All of them are set to sleep, but it doesn’t function. I’m sure that it’s not a hardware issue because it’s fine when I’m using Windows or Ubuntu.

as @fbt89 mentioned, check your power-saving settings first.

I checked them, and they’re fine. What else should I do?

Can you suspend via the start menu normally? Just to rule some possibilities out

  Mobo: ASUSTeK model: GL702VM v: 1.0 serial: <superuser required>

Battery:
  ID-1: BAT0 charge: N/A condition: N/A volts: N/A model: N/A type: Unknown

first things first. make sure that you install the latest bios-firmware of your laptop. that should be done nevertheless before going on.

your battery isn’t detected, that could have multiple causes but make sure that you falsh the latest possible bios-firmware first.

I tried the start menu a few times, the first two times, the same thing happened as I close the lid. But after that, everything was ok!
I just recalled something! Sometimes when I’m trying to log out, I get an error that one of my applications which is called Nekoray, stop the computer from logging out, and I have to push the log-out button again!
Can this application be the reason of what I’m experiencing?

Thanks for your reply. I’m using the latest bios-firmware, and the reason that my battery isn’t detected is that I’m not using any.

This could be it
I’ve read about applications preventing your system from entering suspend-mode in other threads too, so maybe disabling/removing this program should do the trick?

I exit the application and it worked!
Thanks!
Is there any way to stop this app from preventing my system from entering suspend-mode?

do you need this application ? this is somethin andreoid-related stuff. never heard before.
if you don’t need it, start the software-manager and uninstall it.

Where I live, internet is hardly restricted, therefore I use this application. But I’m sure there are other v2ray client applications too, so if there is no way to stop this application, I’m going to uninstall it and use something else.
