Mute Switch LED not working Hp Omen 15

Mute Switch mutes the audio but the led indicator on the button doesn’t light up. The led works on windows.

Any Solution???

On some models you need:

Probably that is what your model needs to, but maybe will not work.

Probably helpful and worth investigating

Mine has a AMD Ryzen 5 4600H cpu in it.

We are interested in the audio driver.
For Device-1

For Device-3

lsmod | grep snd_hda_intel  ✔

So, i guess you need to create the /etc/modprobe.d/mute-led.conf
and append to it this line:

options snd-hda-intel model=snd_ctl_led

No, it is not working. Rebooted the laptop.

I can’t find this codec on above mentioned link

Well, that is why was just a

Maybe the led will be revealed by
lsmod | grep led

lsmod | grep led  ✔

soundcore 16384 2 snd_ctl_led,snd

I have tried various models here but nothing is working so far.

But maybe you are have to change the module_name

to something else that corresponds to the parameter_name=parameter_value
I need to read more to fully understand …

Can not find anything else.
Upgraded the kernel to 5.16 but no luck.

Everything else is working perfectly fine. No manual configuration, nothing… Only the mute switch ( Win/Mod key + F5) LED is bugging me a lot. Though it mutes the audio just fine, I am missing the yellow/orange glowing light.

User on a another HP laptop ( Omen 15-en0044ur ) reported a similar problem to kernel developers
214735 – Audio mute led does not work on HP OMEN 15
And a kernel patch was created for this device
SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x103c, 0x8788, “HP OMEN 15”, ALC285_FIXUP_HP_MUTE_LED)

But OMEN Laptop 15-en0xxx has a different subvendor ID code [103c:8787]
(confirmed from hardware scans for similar systems - AMD Family 17h/19h HD Audio Controller)
so the patch for the mute LED will not be used for this device automatically
and kernel developers did not create a model name for this patch to be used on other devices

I suggest you try using the hda-verb commands suggested in the Bugzilla report to try turning LED on and off
( Ensure package alsa-tools is installed for hda-verb tool )

214735 – Audio mute led does not work on HP OMEN 15
It turns out that

sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x500 0x0B && sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x400 0x7778

enables this LED and

sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x500 0x0B && sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x400 0x7774`

If the hda-verb commands work to change the LED, get ALSA information for both LED states

That would be more than sufficient evidence to support a Bugzilla request to kernel developers
to add a quirk for this device to use the same patch - ( SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x103c, 0x8787… )
Or a model option to allow use of the patch - ALC285_FIXUP_HP_MUTE_LED

Hey, those two commands turn the led on & off… Commands are working

This script requires amixer utility to continue

You should have package alsa-utils installed to provide script and amixer utility. Package is included on all Manjaro official ISOs

I suggest you install metapackage manjaro-alsa to ensure system has all the required ALSA packages

Yes that is already installed.
