Multi-monitor issue with Manjaro I3 and Thinkpad T480

Please let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.

The issue is with the T480 screen and not the two 1920x1080 monitors (HP LA2405x). These models do not have an HDMI input, only VGA, DVI and DP, and work flawlessly with the T480 and an X230 (Manjaro I3) as well as a Windows desktop. One is connected HDMI to DVI, the other USB C to DP.

The issue with the T480 screen is that it does not appear to close the app displayed. (Occasionally will black out altogether). For example, if ARANDR is running on the T480 screen, after you close the app, it appears to be still running, but it is not. The mouse pointer works fine but the app is unresponsive and there is no way (to my knowledge) to clear the display, If you launch ARANDR again, it works again. You can launch a browser over it and it works just fine, but it will not clear when closed.

This is the behavior with both external displays connected or just one. (either one). If someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Manjaro! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Please read the information behind this link. It will help you to post necessary information.
  1. Please press the three dots below your post and then press the :pencil2:
  • If you give us information about your system, we can see what we’re talking about and make better suggestions.
  • You can do this by using inxi in a terminal or in console.
sudo inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
  • Personally identifiable information such as serial numbers and MAC addresses are filtered out by this command
  • Presenting the information in this way allows everyone to be familiar with the format and quickly find the items they need without missing anything.
  1. Copy the output from inxi (including the command) and paste it into your post.
  • To make it more readable, add 3 backticks ``` on an extra line before and after the pasted text.

Have you already :mag: for your problem in the forum ? (Wisdom lies in asking → listening → reading  )
