Monitor on second gpu detected but not displaying

I am attempting to expand beyond 4 screens and have tried a number of methods so far:

  • having all 5 monitors plugged into 1 gpu (apparently hard limit of 4 despite connectors)
  • multiseat with simultaneous user login (plasma does not like this)
  • manually editing nvidia.conf attempting to put in second x screen.

I am not sure what the problem is as other distros (ubuntu and centos) and windows can scale beyond 4 displays (I have tested with my specific configuration).

Also all of my monitors are working including the display link one as I have tested when they are connected with the main GPU.

I think I am doing something dumb here but don’t know how to fix it.

Specifically I would like to have the plasma desktop run across my 2 gpus. Currently The 5 display comes up in the display configuration but when i click enable and apply the screen is still blank.
