Monitor is black when it returns from sleep

  1. click on sleep from kde menu or use systemctl suspend.
  2. the system will sleep.
  3. wake via keyboard or mouse and the monitor completely black nothing reacts to the mouse.

I can fix this by hitting the menu key(windows key) kde menu will pop up. I navigate to system settings → Display & Monitor → Display configuration. Randomly change any setting and click Apply. The desktop will come back, I click revert and everything is back to normal

another clue: I have installed the same Manjaro on 2 workstations that have exact same hardware except - 1st WS has 1 monitor, 2nd WS has 2 monitors. When the 2nd system returns from suspend/sleep, the monitors are black or 1 is black the other displays its share of the desktop.

But! then Display Configuration (in System settings) says: An output has been removed. Settings have been reloaded. and both monitors blink and then display as normal the desktop

As a relatively new forum user, you are encouraged to take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

The Update Announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

Output of the following command formatted according to forum requirements (see links above) is often useful (and this or similar will usually be asked for in Support threads):

inxi -zv8

This gives some (privacy-filtered) information about your system.

1 out of ~5 times the screen will return normally. Here is a hack to minimize the annoyance.

systemctl suspend
echo “sleeping”
sleep 1
read -p “absorb key that wakest monitor” -n 1 xxx
echo “resetting”
xrandr --rate 50
sleep 0.1
xrandr --rate 60
