Momentary self resolved display corruption using Librewolf

Since Librewolf 154 and now on 155 I’m getting momentary self resolving display corruption only within the Librewolf window. Its more prominent when navigating away from a webpage or opening a new tab after playing a video.

Occurs on a clean profile also.

I haven’t yet tested Firefox to see if it also has the issue but it might.

Anyone else? So I can compare setups for troubleshooting?

Could it have something to do with the setting to use hardware acceleration for video?

Notes:

  1. I don’t use librewolf and I am not familiar with its settings, but from my understanding, it would be firefox-based. Therefore, I presume it would have similar settings.

  2. Could it be that (your installed version of) librewolf uses XWayland, rather than Wayland directly?

Don’t run librewolf but I can try since you have also a AMD more or less from the same year. I’ve seen similar corruption with firefox though. But I didn’t investigate since everything kinda bleeding edge

Very close to being the same - For this issue I expect Firefox will also have the issue (hopefully I can test it today).

Definitely one of the 1st things I checked. Definitely running on native Wayland.

Did it start after 154? And is it momentary display corruption that resolves itself in a split second? I notice it on the left side of the screen mostly and I haven’t been quick enough to capture it. I’m not doing any work that makes this anything more than an ugly annoyance but it is distracting.

Yep, but is rather random. In my case though, it’s not a corruption but more a glitch of old times. I installed librewolf, I’ll let you know if the corruption jumps out.

Update: It appears to be upstream of Librewolf as the same thing happens on Firefox and on a clean updated Manjaro. Unfortunately I don’t have any other hardware to test on further.

It’s annoying but I can’t seem to find any other reports of the same thing, so I’ll wait a few releases and see if it resolves itself.
