Missing max display resolution

After updated a few days ago max display resolution is no longer available. I am not sure what update caused the problem but I am now stuck on 2048x1080 instead of 2560x1440 which worked perfectly fine before.
I’ve tried reinstalling and also removed and installed Nvidia drivers but it didn’t help.

I am out of ideas what else to try.

Mod edit:- Replaced inxi output. No charge.

xrandr isn’t compatible with wayland – that it fails is no surprise. There is a another tool that works with Wayland, though I don’t recall the name of it as I type. Someone else might though.

Please provide your system information as described (below).

Regards.

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit.

Note: By virtue of using the Manjaro forum you acknowledge and agree to follow Rules and Guidelines outlined; so, you really should read them:

Required Reading
Highly Recommended

Work with us, not against us

Be prepared to provide output from commands when asked. It is equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Simply waiting for others to ask you questions can be counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – instead, please help others to make informed suggestions based on information you provide.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

a) inxi command (long-form):

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

b) inxi command (short-form):

inxi -zv8

Running inxi within a chroot environment :eyes:

  • Add --color=0 to the long-form command, or…
  • Change the short-form command to inxi -zv8c0

I’ve tried adding modile to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf but also no success

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "VGA1"
    Modeline "2560x1440_60.00" 312.25 2560 2752 3024 3488 1440 1443 1448 1493 -hsync +vsync
    Option "PreferredMode" "2560x1440_60.00"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Monitor "VGA1"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"
        Modes "2560x1440_60.00"
    EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

Unlikely to succeed, as you are not using X11 for your desktop environment or display:

For those curious about how Wayland differs from X11:

Posting inxi output again was probably not needed. The only real difference between inxi --filter --verbosity=8 (inxi -zv8) and that pasted in your first post was that -F is deprecated and the output was incomplete.

I have replaced the output in your first post with this new output.

Regards.

HDMI ??? Why ??

Because I don’t see a reason not to :man_shrugging: .
I will try with DP but the one that I’ve is not long enough.
The issue that I’ve is not HW related, I’ve been using the same setup for more than a year, except graphic card which is about 2 months old, and everything was working fine until now.

You could try using the Nouveau driver; alternately, if you really must use the proprietary Nvida drivers, you could try installing the 570xx series instead.

Anecdotal:-

Display Port cables/connectors are often recommended for modern graphic systems; depending, of course, on whether the computer/ monitor/ graphics have the necessary support.

After a few system updates (also nvidia driver version) in last couple of days, yesterday I’ve noticed that max resolution is back :man_shrugging: .

As if by magic. :magic_wand:
