If you can’t remember doing something that could have caused this:
there is the
--overwrite
option to
pacman
there is a “break” here - you edited something
the command would be “exit” - and it would take you out of chroot
everything after that is not happening in chroot anymore.

At the moment I’m at the limit of my time and what I can handle - there will likely be a long pause in responses.
The break, including the lack of the “t” at the end of “exit” is simply a part of me copying everything via drag select when copying the output over here from the terminal, it doesn’t show up that way in the actual thing. Doesn’t it exit chroot at the end and not during the process of running the other previous commands?

Magic? I just wanted to know if it’s something to consider as option given it’s there and it claims to restore grub among other things. Which appears to be part of my problem from my understanding. So far, using the terminal appeared to result in errors that may involve something that I have zero understanding of or are caused by a mistake I may have made. So if this is a tool that may be able to do what I have tried to do for the last day or so, that at the very least could do so without introducing user error, then I would say that it would be something to consider. But a lot of that is based off of the very limited knowledge I have been able to gain about my situation, and from the small amount of stuff I have been able to find in regards to what this feature is.
It is because of said limited knowledge and info I came here for answers.
But if I am going to continue using the terminal do I need to make edits to the commands I am entering? Like how you mentioned the thing about the use of exit and - - overwrite. So should the new commands be

Thank you for trying to help me everyone who responded. Especially Nachlese. I ultimately decided to grab the personal files that I found to be important to me and moved them to an external device. After doing so I did a new install of the OS and then moved everything back onto it. Everything is of course working fine now. And I apologize if I wasn’t the easiest to work with.
