Microphone detected but audio not recording

I am new to manjaro
I have bought a generic mic which has 3.5 mm jack it is perfectly working in my phone and is also being detected in PC but is unable to record audio in PC I think this can be a. Driver issue but due to the fact that mic is generic I am not able to find anything
Please help
