Mercusys wifi adapter drivers not working

I have a mercusys ac650 wifi adapter, but any drivers I’ve tried installing don’t work. Pretty much all posts I found with related issues were for ubuntu, and I tried doing what they say, but it doesn’t seem to work.

the adapter is the realtek semiconductor thing
secure boot is off

It seems the rtl8821cu driver is needed, have you tried installing rtl8821cu-dkms-git from AUR?
