Manjaro XFCE fails to boot after upgrade (maybe TIFU)

yes, this:

pacman -Sy linux66

instead of mhwd-kernel -i ...
which for reasons I do not know doesn’t work in chroot.

Ohh my, it left something for me in the /boot folder.

Those warnings are typically nothing to be concerned with.

If you can now boot then

Regards.

Let the boot commence. Se you guys on the other side!

Not so fast!

Reboot first, and then;

It’s usually required that you mark the post that helped you the most as the solution.

(I note @megavolt has put some effort into this topic.)

After that, you can sail off into the sunset.

I’m back! Now on a perfectly running system. Thank you guys - you saved my day :star_struck:

I’ve marked @megavolt reply as the solution, but thank you all for the swift replies!

Ok - recap for others that might end up here
1: After update the system would not boot
2: Made a LiveUSB by downloading a Manjaro ISO
3: Used Ventoy instead of Rufus to transfer ISO to bootable USB
4: Installed a new kernel using pacman -Sy linux66
5: This fixed everything - even the grumpy Grub

Thanks a million, sailing off into the sunset
