This how far it gets. Any suggestions what might be the issue?
Host OS is Manjaro XFCE
Seen this before, I’ve also run into this on QEMU and have no solution. In the thread linked a test on bare metal does boot a working grafical environment.

Installing
qemu-hw-display-qxl
xf86-video-qxl
and switching to that as the video device in qemu does allow it to boot successfully.
