Hi @Greypathos and welcome to the Manjaro community.

Please look at the information you have provided. Is that really enough for anyone to have an immediate solution to your issue? The skeleton information you have provided only opens the door to play a game of questions and guesses.

Please provide more detail to help others help you.

As a new user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

Cheers.

I apologize for my lack of information or knowledge on what i need to post as I am new to not just manjaro but to forums in general and I never expected an immediate solution, i expect it to take time. As for relevant information that would help im not sure what else to provide that would help except that im running a live version of manjaro off a boot drive and when i go to install it to my computer it crashes before i can choose a keyboard layout. I figure its not a software issue due to a combination of no complaints about the latest release that I could find here, and the fact that my live boot drive is working perfectly fine. When it crashes there are no error messages or anything to tell me why it wont install.

Blind shot: Disable Fast Boot/Secure Boot/TPM in Bios… also get sure you choose the right USB Boot entry that fits to your MBR or Efi install.

The installer logs its progres, I’m not certain if the log level is enough to find the issue you experience.

The Calamares session log is placed in ~/.cache/calamares and is called session.log. It is placed in the home-directory of the user running Calamares, so that may be the root user. If it is not detailed, add -D6 to the flags passed to Calamares (meaning “debug logging level 6”, which is plenty).

If there is a session log and a relevant error?

Welcome to Manjaro! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Please read the information behind this link. It will help you to post necessary information.
  1. Please press the three dots below your post and then press the :pencil2:
  • If you give us information about your system, we can see what we’re talking about and make better suggestions.
  • You can do this by using inxi in a terminal or in console.
sudo inxi --verbosity=8 --filter --width
  • Personally identifiable information such as serial numbers and MAC addresses are filtered out by this command
  • Presenting the information in this way allows everyone to be familiar with the format and quickly find the items they need without missing anything.
  1. Copy the output from inxi (including the command) and paste it into your post.
  • To make it more readable, add 3 backticks ``` on an extra line before and after the pasted text.

Have you already :mag: for your problem in the forum ? (Wisdom lies in asking → listening → reading  )

So I was able to launch from the terminal and was able to see what was failing. Everything is looking good except a warning for EFI

WARNING: system is EFI but no EFI system partitions found.
15:24:08 [1]: ASSERT: "efiSectorCount > 0" in file /build/calamares5/src/calamares-3.2.62/src/modules/partition/core/PartitionActions.cpp, line 123
/usr/bin/calamares_polkit: line 6: 7838 Aborted

I’m not entirely sure what this mean, but its the only real error I got

“Assert:” means:

This condition MUST be met to continue.

  • The installer cannot find an EFI partition and cannot continue

Ok, is there a way i can create a partition for it to build on?

What about some inxi ?

Instead of playing hide and seek

There is a partition, but (with 4MiB) it is way to small for EFI

Please seek advice regarding partitioning. This is not my area of expertise

:footprints:

Or :mag: the wiki / forum for “partitioning”
