which software?

how exactly?

with so little info who could be able to help?

Start a live ISO, backup your data, first.

If someone want’s to help on this level of information - fine, my best advice would be to reinstall as your system might be heavily borked, already.

agreed!

@saiteja515
your best bet at rectifying the situation/repairing the system is to boot from usb and chroot
manjaro-chroot -a
and then reverse what you did - reinstall whatever was deinstalled.

You’ll find what happened in the pacman log
/var/log/pacman.log
in the likely case that you don’t know what happened and why or how.

But realistically
(assuming your knowledge level as pretty basic or even near zero - no offense intended!)
you’d be better off to back up your data and reinstall.

It is just easier than to first try to provide all the necessary information to us
and then to follow the suggestions what to do based upon them
while you are confined to only a terminal and the command line (no graphical tools).

If you’d like to try:

post the result of:
tail -n 100 /var/log/pacman.log | grep Running

this will show what pacman did recently

while restarting if i continuously press shift is shows some interface of Manjaro with editing boot options and the grub command line
as in the pictures if I edit this boot option and typing 3 and pressing F10 it is taking me to the terminal(manjaro linux 5.15.78-1-manjaro (ttyl) ) and asking me to login using my id and password after I do that it is showing
"flatpak:error while loading shared libraries:libassuan.so.9: cannot open shared object sile :no such file or directory

also it would be a lot of help if you let me know how to buck up my files so there can’t be any data loss

I am not able to upload any media so I will be uploading the pics regarding that how can I do that

thanks

iam trying my level best to understand the Linux and its been only recently I have used this I don’t have any experience in using any type of OS except Microsoft

as I not to resolve this as the system this happened is my brothers

boot from usb - the same that you used to install the system
access the disk and look for a directory called “home”
inside it is:
/home/your_user_name
and copy everything in there to another disk … :man_shrugging:

I vote for backing up and a complete reinstall. It is probably salvageable, but not with that level of knowledge.
In the future, do not blindly copy paste commands without asking here first. Especially not if those are generated by Artificial Stupidity. As you noticed, that can wipe half of the system, and i doubt ChatGPT cares or is very sorry.

To add to that, try to download a recent ISO of Manjaro (Download x86 – Manjaro) before reinstalling. Kernel 5.15.78 became outdated in November 2022 (Index of /pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/), so if you are trying to fix and/or reinstall the system using a 2 year old ISO, then you will encounter a huge number of problems. There have been many changes to Manjaro since then and updating from an old ISO or unmaintained installation will result in a lot of software conflicts and changes to configuration files which will definitely require manual intervention.

Also, I hope that you have learned your lesson about using AI to try to solve problems that require human thinking and decision-making. Advice from AI seems to be the fastest, most reliable way to turn a working system into a broken system. The best advice can always be found here, on this forum, where people who have been using Manjaro for many years are always eager to provide guidance and help sort out even the most intractable of system issues.

Finally, this might be worth a read for you (and your brother, as you said that it is his system, and the very old kernel appears to indicate that it has not been properly updated/maintained for nearly 2 years):

Please post your Terminal Output as preformatted code, mark the text and press this button </> or press crtl+e

Also post your system settings, when you have the option.

If you can’t have any data loss, you should always have created a backup or even better several backups. :man_shrugging:

When your system is working fine, i also recommend to create a Timeshift snapshot on a external drive formated with ext4. This way you can rollback your system if you running into bugs like this.

If you reinstall your system, think about it to activate a swap partition and a home partition.
