alsamixer response “Host is down” suggests the default ALSA output (pipewire-pulse or pulseaudio) is not working

You can replace it with pulseaudio with pamac install manjaro-pulse

Install manjaro-pipewire for pipewire or manjaro-pulse for pulseaudio.

Metapackages manjaro-pipewire and manjaro-pulse should allow users to switch between
the two conflicting sound servers easily with pamac or pamac-manager
