Live environment crashes when trying to install dual-boot

Disclaimer: I’m a Linux newbie

I have a laptop with Windows 10 and am trying to add Manjaro (kde) as a second OS.
I booted into the live environment from a USB and ran the installer.
Every time, it completely freezes at 90% on “installing the bootloader”.
Mouse movement or key-presses aren’t displayed and the internal fan also stops after a few minutes.

The partition seems to get created and written to succesfully but there is no grub when booting up the laptop.

Checking efibootmgr from inside the live environment shows that no new start option was registered. I tried to follow a tutorial to register the start option manually via the live environment’s shell, doing that also freezes the laptop, with the same symptoms.

I tried creating the main partition from inside the installer and from inside windows.
I also used the manual partitioning option.
When I did that, I got the warning that I hadn’t set up the efi partition correctly, even though I followed a tutorial and couldn’t find anything that was different.

My inxi output on the live environment:

 inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width

Can you help me figure out what I’m doing wrong?
I would appreciate any help and will gladly add more info if needed.

Welcome to Manjaro! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Please read the information behind this link. It will help you to post necessary information. [HowTo] Provide System Information
  2. Please press the three dots below your post and then press the :pencil2:
  • If you give us information about your system, we can see what we’re talking about and make better suggestions.
  • You can do this by using inxi in a terminal or in console.
inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
  • Personally identifiable information such as serial numbers and MAC addresses are filtered out by this command
  • Presenting the information in this way allows everyone to be familiar with the format and quickly find the items they need without missing anything.
  1. Copy the output from inxi (including the command) and paste it into your post.
  • To make it more readable, add 3 backticks ``` on an extra line before and after the pasted text.
