Pushed linux-6.15.6-1 to unstable when the mirrors sync.
Manjaro-opi5plus-xfce upgraded to linux-6.15.6-1. With this kernel Chromium_v138 does at time support vpu hardware acceleration but not that consistent at times it does not after boot up with Chromium streaming the same youtube video (filtered to h264).
Trying to figure why. It also happen on MiniArch-EOS with warpme kernel-6.15.4. Sort of like during the boot up process some items are not loaded (just a hunch).
linux-rc-6.16.rc6-1 pushed to unstable when the mirrors sync.
Upgraded to linux-rc-6.16-rc6-1. dmesg is show CPU restart on every boot up and Chromium_v138 no vpu hw acceleration 5 out 5 reboot/boot up.

Downgrading to linux-6.15.6-1. On linux-6.15.6-1 dmesg does not have “CPU Restart issue” and Chromium_v138 does support vpu hardware acceleration on most (>50%) boot up.
Looks like something to do with wifi.
Wifi was available with linux-rc-6.16-rc6-1 as far as I can tell but wired ethernet was connected so did not really test the wifi speed/stability. Will test it again when linux-rc-6.16-rc7 is out. Thanks.
linux-6.15.7-1 pushed to unstable when the mirrors sync.
Manjaro-opi5plus-kde upgraded graded successfully to linux-6.15.7-1.

Two CPU warning with linux-6.16.0-1. Previously on linux-rc-6.16-rc7 only one CPU warning.
FYI, On MiniArch-EOS-KDE with kernel-6.16.0-1 from warpme, Chromium_v138 also NO vpu hardware acceleration.

Another issue with linux-6.16.0-1:
Manjaro-opi5plus-kde on linux kernel upgraded successfully but upon reboot (i.e. with kernel linux-6.16.0-1), the mouse cursor/pointer is no longer visible (Plasma-Wayland session - default).
A workaround to regain mouse cursor/pointer is to:
export KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1
place it on /usr/share/sddm/scripts/wayland-session
On your MiniArch-EOS-KDE install is there a md5sum difference of the firmware in /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89/ opposed to the manjaro install. If so you might want to try those files in your manjaro install.
WARPME has no rtw89 related patches in their tree that I can find.
Not sure I understand you correctly. The CPU warning is on Manjaro-opi5plus-linux-6.16.0-1 and restart of wifi. But with linux-6.15.y, I don’t have the CPU warning or restart wifi in the dmesg.
FYI, wifi is available in linux-6.15.y and linux-6.16.0-1 just that on linux-6.16.0-1 (linux-rc-6.16 too) dmesg has warning about CPU and wifi restart. No chromium vpu hw acceleration.
Did a quick check rtw8852b_fw-1.bin in Manjaro and in MiniArch-EOS the file size is the same [file size: 1.2 MiB (1,244,784)]
He added RTL-8852BE when I highlighted it to him few months ago.
That is not a md5sum.
[ray@jellyfin ~]$ md5sum /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89/rtw8852b_fw-1.bin
5697622d6eb4cfd73d1b1d8b8608c106 /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89/rtw8852b_fw-1.bin
He must have enabled the module in the kernel and there is not a rtw89 related patch under firmware or kernel in his tree.
Rename Manjaro-opi5plus-xfce-linux-6.16.0-1 /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89 to /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89-manjaro
Copied MiniArch-EOS-KDE-6.16.0 /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89 over to Manjaro-opi5plus-xfce-linux-6.16.0-1 /usr/lib/firmware/
Reboot
dmesg on Manjaro-opi5plus-xfce-linux-6.16.0 still have two hardware restart and CPU warning. Wifi is available.

With linux-6.16.0-1 (and warpme kernel-6.16.0) clapper media player can not play local 4K/30fps h264 video whereas on linux-6.15.8-1 clapper will not play the same local 4K/30fps video.
He must have enabled the module in the kernel and there is not a rtw89 related patch under firmware or kernel in his tree.
Most likely. When warpme first enabled “rtw89” his kernel modules does not have /usr/lib/firmware/rtw89. I have to manually copy the rtw89 to /usr/lib/firmware/ from another image to get wifi working.
I have built rtw89-dkms-git-r1409.b82ae7d-1 package for you to try out. This will blacklist the current rtw89 modules and rebuild and install new out of tree modules to your system. Be sure to reboot after installing this package for your 6.16 manjaro install.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UPESCZYqcZ8qQ4Rn7hCwRZRxPe0-PlzQ/view?usp=sharing
Also you may want to pay attention to this. I’m not sure what that is all about:
optdepend = usb_modeswitch: A tool that can switch the adapter from CD-ROM mode to Wi-Fi mode
Thanks. Installed rtw89-dkms-git-r1409.b82ae7d-1 successfully on Manjaro-opi5plus-xfce. This is the image used mainly for mainline kernel.
dmesg no more “WARNING: CPU: 6 PID: 94 at net/mac80211/main.c:477 ieee80211_restart_work+0x174/0x180 [mac80211]”.
Chromium_v138 on linux-6.16.0-1 still NO vpu hardware acceleration on 3 reboot.
Not sure I understand this. What should I be looking out for?
Edit: Will follow up tomorrow.
6 Reboots no more similar "WARNING: CPU: 6 PID: 94 at net/mac80211/main.c:477 ieee80211_restart_work+0x174/0x180 [mac80211]" so rtw89-dkms-git-r1409.b82ae7d-1 seems to resolve the CPU warnings.
But Chromium_v138 still no vpu hardware acceleration.
Spoke to fast. On 8 Restart with linux-6.16.0-1 using rtw89_dkms-git. This CPU warning is different.
It might be a one off warning. Two further reboots dmesg did not have any CPU warnings.
